An Excerpt from The Green Knight:
Gavin stood and looked the crowd over. “Where’s the head?” He took the kid’s shoulder. “Go down to the ambulance and bring up the gurney from the back.”
He flapped his hands at the crowd, shooing them back, then found the stairs and pelted down to the basement level. He found the correct elevator and was just able to prize the doors halfway open. There in the bottom of the shaft, between the safety springs, lay Carl’s head, facing upward.
The eyes rolled toward him, and the left eye dropped him a wink.
