Fighting the Red-Tape Disaster

Karla flipped open her laptop, getting a welcoming giggle from the processor.

“Care to explain what you meant by this mess landing in my lap, Wyatt?”

“I mean one Ms. Terri Wilson is asking for a meeting with you ASAP to discuss options. She seems determined to keep this from spreading, in the media and in additional sinkholes. And obviously worried that it might.”

“Terri’s the best one to call in, and no one else. She’s the only one I trust not to go digging for more information, or to share what she learns. Besides, she’s got enough knowledge of the rules and regs and enough pull on her side of the divide to make a difference. I’ll need to review the relevant contracts and treaties. How long can you delay her?”

Wyatt snapped all five fingers together in a point, and his conjured newspaper disappeared.

“The mundane media’s all over this, so we’re talking an hour at most. She made it clear she’d prefer to meet as soon as she can make it down here. And that you’re not alone in needing to dig into the law.”

“I won’t put her off, then. We’ll have to review what we need to together, and hopefully avoid lawyers landing in the middle of this.”
