The 2026 Light Fantasy StoryBundle: Stefon Mears!
Today's highlight, Stefon Mears, with The Rescue Game: The Tale of a Professional Damsel in Distress
Defeat the dragon. Rescue the princess. Surefire formula for a hero, and a great business for a princess looking for more out of life than dances and marriage.
Princess Marigold of Westfaltir, just the kind of princess to excel at the rescue game — beautiful, clever and resourceful.
Good thing, too. For today's rescuing knight makes a poor first impression. Worse, news reaches them that could endanger Marigold's entire way of life. And many a kingdom along with it.
A problem only Marigold can solve.
The Rescue Game, The Tale of a Professional Damsel in Distress, a light, rollicking fantasy adventure starring a princess with attitude, dragons with personality, and maybe even a good knight or two. From Stefon Mears, author of the Jumpstart Duchy series.
A note from Kristine Kathryn Rusch, our bundle curator:
When I had contacted Stefon Mears about this StoryBundle, he gave me a choice of two newly finished projects to include. How could I resist a Mears-based book about a professional damsel in distress, a story that includes dragons, and Stefon's not-so-slightly skewed perspective? I love stories that turn the world as we know it upside down—even if that world is one filled with fantasy tropes. – Kristine Kathryn Rusch
